We haven´t only been to Scotland. We´ve spent a fair share of the summer in the archepelago, on the island of Edö as usual. It´s been sunny and warm – verging on too hot. We´ve had lots of barbecues, mosquitoes, wasps, swimming in the sea and knitting. What more could you ask for?
Well, internet access would be nice of course. We do have one actually, but it´s so terribly slow it doesn´t count. So the photos of knitted FO´s have piled up.
When I was on holiday I also had a bit of a break from designing. There are quite a few lace shawls that I´ve been wanting to knit – so I´ve had a summer of lace.
While still in Scotland I started a small Aeolian shawl in yarn that was handpainted by Maria.
It turned out rather small and didn´t take long to finish – especially since I didn´t put quite so many beads on it. But it will be a perfect size for me to wear (because I´m not so big myself) and I love the seagreen colour.
This is supposed to be a desert shawl, but it doesn´t look wrong by the seaside either.
Maria is a master when it comes to dyeing yarn. Her style is very unlike that of say Wollmeise, but just as beautiful in its own subtle way.
It will match the hat I made in Scotland rather well, the photos don´t show the true colours unfortunately.
This shawl will be a favourite this winter!
Summer hasn´t left Stockholm altogether. But we spent this weekend in town, despite the good weather.
There was a teaparty at the English church in Stockholm, to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and the Scottish dance group that I belong to had been asked to provide some of the entertainment.
The Stockholm Branch of the Roayl Scottish Country Dance Society.
So I didn´t get much knitting done today, but danced a jig, a strathspey and a reel. I also had tea, salmon sandwiches and chocolate cake. It was the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon.
It was very much like being in an episode of Midsomer Murders, except there were no murders.
The nausea is probably just the result of having had too much chocolate cake, right?
I´ll be back with photos of more finished lace shawls later. I hope.
Dina sjalar är helt fantastiska. Den som heter Aeolian är ju "to die for". /clarran
