Don´t you just love doing row after row of just garter stitch?
No, neither do I.
But if one wants to have another "Cardigan with Gussets"
from Solveig Hisdal´s book "Poetry in Stitches it doesn´t leave one with much choice.
I can´t even claim that I didn´t know what I was letting myself in for,
since I´ve made one before.
This is my old "Cardigan with Gussets" that I made back in 2003.
The yarn is Rowan Cotton Wool and I also added some beads.
Those who know me well are familiar with my obsession with beads.
Actually, you don´t have to know me that well.
Before I decide to knit something – anything - I always ask myself:
But can you add beads?
And in most cases the answer is yes (sigh of relief).
These particular beads have nearly cost me a friendship, though.
My friend Nicole and I have an ongoing discussion about the colour of these beads.
I call them charcoal, but she insists on calling them blue.
And I swear that I´ve never seen them as blue, not even faintly. Until now.
So even though it pains me, I have to admit that I was wrong and Nicole is right.
I´m sorry, Nicole.
(Though I do suspect there is something seriously wrong with my camera)
Now, I´ve worn this cardigan so much it´s beginning to look a bit worse for wear.
So I decided to make a new one. But – wait for it – without beads!
Not only because I want to avoid losing having another arguement...
But beads in combination with this variegated yarn would give people a headache.
It´s a sockyarn from Colinette called "Jitterbug".
The colourway is called copperbeach.
See all those rows of garter stitch?
Driving me NUTS.
I´ve been knitting on this for three weeks by now.
And I´ve already finished the body and started on a sleeve.
Time to start thinking about those all important buttons.
The buttons on the first cardigan were simply spectacular.
Antique and decorated with marcasites.

Well, the beads do look blue but the sweater is gorgeous.

My darling husband actually paid an OUTRAGEOUS amount of money (compared to the publication price) to get me a copy of P in S... I must have over looked this. I don't mind garter stitches at all, especially with soft lush yarn!
Thanks for the highlight.

Knapparna är urläckra!
Givetvis är tröjan det också, men det visste du ju redan att jag tycker
/maria som hela veckan av någon anledning funderat på den rätstickade koftan i norsk stickdesign..har du tänkt rätstickning när du gått förbi?

this photo is particularly satisfying. :)
o.k., maybe there IS something with the camera but then the yarn is more black irl too.
the result is uniquely gorgeous whatever color they are!
