Now that we are two
Last summer Johanne made a sweater for herself called Rosita.
It is a Jaeger pattern from a booklet published in 2005,
unfortunately riddled with faults.
But with the aid of a pattern collection book by Barbara G. Walker
called A Treasury of Knitting Patterns she managed to pull it off.
There was only one problem with the finished Rosita.
When Elise tried it on she declared she really liked it.
Her resigned mother realized that if she was ever going to
be able to wear that sweater herself she had to make another one
for Elise.
So immediately after the Flowerbasket shawl was done
Johanne cast on for a second Rosita.
Oi, can we have two martinis over here!
Elise thought it was taking far too long, especially as
Johanne had to rip out half the first sleeve and make some alterations.
There was no pattern in the size of a nine year old, so a lot of it was
pure guesswork.
In the pattern book by Barbara G. Walker this flower motif
is called Ogee Lace.
Except for the sleeves it all went rather well, though.
And after blocking and sewing and neckline knitting
Elises Rosita was done.
Estimated time from start to finish is two months.
The little madam was pleased.
And so was Johanne, who could now be sure that she would have
her own Rosita all to herself. At least until Elise grows out of hers.
Estimated time before Elise has grown out of her
Rosita is two years.
The yarn used is six skeins of Eko cotton from
Atelje Huskroken on Gotland bought at Nysta.
For her own Rosita Johanne used about eight skeins of
the same yarn, but in a different colour.
And th next time she takes a picture for her blog Johanne
will make sure she doesnt put the sweater on back to front...
Now Johanne is eager to make a third Rosita.
A winter version in wool.

;-) Elise obviously has the same taste as Johanne. The Rositas are beautiful!
